FABRIC OF LIFE
FABRIC OF LIFE
San Juan Bautista, California
Fabric of Life is a permanent public art installation by VAST Projects, located in historic San Juan Bautista, California. The project combines a sculptural centerpiece with expansive hand-painted murals, creating a multidimensional work that merges fine art, architecture, and community storytelling.
The installation features botanical and symbolic motifs woven through both sculpture and painted surfaces, reflecting the cultural richness and natural surroundings of the region. By blending physical form with painterly abstraction, the work becomes both landmark and gathering space, designed to be experienced from multiple perspectives.
Fabric of Life highlights how integrated public art can enhance civic identity and drive long-term value. Commissioned as part of a broader revitalization effort, the project strengthens the city’s cultural assets, attracts tourism, and demonstrates how large-scale, mixed-media artworks can transform public environments into destinations.
